Myofascial Release Therapy
Myofascial Release is a form of soft tissue therapy that focuses on problems arising in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Overuse conditions and muscle imbalances can contribute to the formation of adhesions and scar tissue within the muscles and fascia, leading to a reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and pain.
Myofascial Release involves applying tension to an affected area/tissue while the patient actively moves the tissue from a shortened to lengthened position. This helps in restoring range of motion and function to the affected soft tissues.
Myofascial Release is useful in treating a wide range of conditions including:
- Neck and low back pain
- Plantar fasciitis
- Sciatica
- Headaches
- Shin splints
- Shoulder pain
